Q. Who are you?
A. A mad music lover named Patrick.
Q. Why are you doing this?
A. Because Australian music is as good if not better than any other nations music and our pox infested main stream radio stations, for the most part ignore it, and that really pisses me off.
We have so much new and exciting talent lurking around out there that needs nurturing. Imagine for just a minute, if every time a radio station played a Pink song (or Nickleback, or Alanis Morresset), they swapped it for a local Aussie song instead, what a shot in the arm that would give our locals.
Also there is supposed to be a “self regulated” system that states that radio must play a certain percentage of Australian content. I am almost certain that playing 55 Jimmy Barnes songs a day is not really in the spirit of the thing, to quote The Castle.
Q. Why is my band not mentioned?
A. I am but one person and have spent many many weeks searching our local bands/artists but I am well aware there and many I have missed. My apologies. Please send me your Myspace (or website) link where there are a couple of songs to listen to and I will add you.
Q. Who is paying you?
A. No one.
Q. Who made this nice looking site?
A. My beautiful (and understanding/tolerant) wife.
Q. Why do you put “Info taken from whereever” on most pages?
A. My aim is not to “opinionise” the site. Naturally there is some music and some bands I don’t like. I don’t want to be accused of promoting one over the other. In their own way they are all good, and they all deserve to be heard. If you or your band have posted very little info about yourselves, I will listen to all the songs on your site and write a short spiel myself. Otherwise I’ll take it where I can get it!
Q. Can I help?
A. SHIT YEAH! I am after people who can help with older long gone bands especially.
Q. Why is AC/DC not listed?
A. Coz none of them are Aussies, they don’t live here (the first seven years of a 33 year career don’t count), they don’t make much of their income from here and in reality, they don’t really need the pissant little promotion I can offer.
Q. Do you count New Zealand bands?
A. Not at the moment. If you are a Kiwi and would like to contribute your fine countries talent, please contact me.
