As a music listener of many years, I have always shunned novelty acts. Bands with a great gimmick, but no real talent to back themselves up. (like the B52′a and Presidents Of The U.S.A). However recently I stumbled across Adelaide’s “The Beards“.

Johann Beardraven – Vocals / Sax
Nathanial Beard – Bass / Vocals
Facey McStubblington – Guitar / Vocals
John Beardman – Drums
These guys sing about beards! Growing them, shaving them, having/not having them and even how long it takes to grow a good one.
Sounds silly on the surface, but they are damn good. The Beards have the talent to back up their gimmick, which goes a long way towards continued success.
Their singer, who calls himself Johann Beardraven, has a remarkable voice with a great range. They play a folk/rock style with some extremely clever lyrics…..about beards.
They have two albums out, both chock a block full of songs singing the praises of the humble Beard.
As Spock (who did have a beard in a Star Trek episode once) would say “Fascinating”.
