The Sure Shot Hunters Kings & Queens EP Launch

Posted by Paddy On March - 31 - 2010

In 2004, The Sure Shot Hunters reared onto the scene as a promising trio. Led by multi-instrumentalist Zevon Hiltz on guitar and vocals, Alejandro Adams on drums and Nick Delaney on the bass guitar.

By 2007 having already independently released their debut album ‘After Midnight’, the trio started turning heads and being recognized for their blues infused style. Gigging at Melbourne’s premier venues and national festivals – Broadbeach Blues Festival, St Kilda Festival totalling over 700 shows to date; ‘…Great Stage presence, great gear and a cool big blues band sound…’ (Helen Jennings, PBS).

The Hunters sound was put by lead singer/songwriter Ryan Richie from hip hop jazz-fusion group True Live as “Muscle Blues”, the Hunters catchy & infectious contemporary blues sound caught the eye of infamous Australian producer Josh Abrahams. Kings & Queens EP was recorded and produced by Abraham’s at Fishtank studio. In addition, engineer Forrester Savell (Butterfly Effect, Dallas Frasca) discovered the band on myspace and added the final touches to the mix and mastering the EP at Sing Sing Studio.

Raw emotion, heavy blues/ rock grooves, catchy lyrics and super funky guitar chops depict the bands forthcoming release. “…After working alongside these producers and studio cats, we cant wait to get these tracks out to the public to get there hands on…” Today recognized as one of Australia’s tightest and gifted trio’s.

The tiny little videos are for listening to only. Please visit the links to fully enjoy them.

The Beautiful Girls (not one of which is in fact a girl) will announce their full Australian Tour on their Facebook page on Monday the 29th. Be the first to know the who, what, when and wheres of it all.

Dan Webb will go to the studio next week to begin recording his second EP. The as yet untitled EP will be the follow up to his “Capitulation” EP from 2009. Dan is a keyboard player who plays great rock without a guitar to be heard. Perhaps some vague similarities could be drawn with Emerson Lake and Palmer.

Operator Please have announced a tour to support their album “Gloves”. The “Gloves Off” tour will kick off on the 18th of June and end on the 3rd of July. They will be supported by Tim & Dean and Chaingang. Visit their page for dates and venues. The album will be available on the 23rd of April, however you can pre order it here signed and all for under 20 bucks.

The Rough Diamonds have just completed the launch for their debut album, “Free To Be”. Known as much for their unflappable community spirit as they are for their traditional country music, these lovely ladies have decided to donate 20% of their merchandise sales to the Autism & Aspergers Support Group Inc. No matter how you slice and dice it, that is a wonderful gesture and the girls are to be commended.

Visit this link for details on how to purchase their album.

News Roundup March 25th 2010

Posted by Paddy On March - 25 - 2010

The Butterfly Effect have just announced a massive Australian tour

This Winter will see us hitting the road for the ‘Four Wheels and a Heartbeat’ tour. It’s going to take in many of the towns that we’ve been unable to get to on any of the tours we’ve done in support of ‘Final Conversation of Kings’ thus far.
We’ve been looking forward to hitting the regional towns because they really are some of our favourite places to play and we haven’t done some of these towns since we toured with Grinspoon in 2003 (Mildura, I’m looking at you). So, yeah, it’s kinda going to be fun. Come and have a beer and say hi…

Pioneers Of Flight are launching their EP “A Gentleman’s Agreement” on Wedensday the 4th of April at Brisbane’s Troubadour. Supporting them will be Eleanor Angel and Spring Skier.

Charming audiences with catchy, heartfelt ditties, matadors of the stage, Pioneers of Flight have built up an intimate and revealing show that is coloured with a subtle blend of alt-country twang. Drawing on musical influences such as John Lennon and Neil Young, combined with the effects of red wine and recording in the rural surrounds of Esk, the duo have created what appears on surface level to be happy sounding tunes, yet purvey more serious undertones of melancholy and longing. The result, their debut EP, A Gentlemen’s Agreement will be launched in true alt-country fashion at the Brisbane’s very own Troubadour on Wednesday 14th April.

They have rejuvenated themselves and are hard at work on an album possibly ready for release late this year/early next year. You can hear this work in progress at their myspace page. They have some shows coming up in Melbourne very soon. Watch their Myspace page and this site for more details.

Unitopia, New Album Almost Here

Posted by Paddy On March - 25 - 2010

Unitopia is proud to announce the release of their brand new album entitled “Artificial” on May 3rd 2010 in Europe and May 4th 2010 in the USA. The follow-up to “The Garden” will be the band’s second official release on Inside Out music, and their third album release. Their first album, “More Than a Dream”, was previously released on Unicorn Digital records.

“Artificial” uses symphonic, progressive, world, jazz and art rock elements to illustrate the dichotomy of an artificial world that is developing within our real world and how we as human beings relate to each of these worlds.

A few changes in the band have occurred this year. Mark Trueack (Lead and backing vocals), Sean Timms (Keyboards/backing vocals), Matt Williams (Guitars/backing vocals), Tim Irrgang (Percussion), remain from the original formation preserving the original and innovative “Unitopian” sound, while Jamie Jones (Drums), Shaun Duncan (Bass) and Peter Raidel (Saxes), bring an exciting dimension to the new tracks adding an even more emotional aspect to the music than before, if possible.

This first and special Edition of “Artifical” will feature a 20 pages booklet plus three bonus tracks and we are pleased to announce those attending RoSfest 2010 will be able to purchase this special Edition directly from the stand on May 1st.

Ed Unitsky is signing on once again to do the magnificent artwork for the album. Ed is known for his complex and captivating Surrealistic Images that expand the mind creating an imaginary place where one can journey into the fantastic realms of the imagination.

Ed’s art has been compared with the likes of Roger Dean, H.R. Giger, Rodney Matthews, Storm Thorgerson, Paul Whitehead and many other prestigious master fantasy artists and he is being touted as a modern day Dali. Ed’s creative range is remarkable. His unique signature style resonates an old world Russian influence with an innovative Pop Culture flair. Many seem to believe it is inspired from the divine.

Samples of the new songs will be available to hear in early April at www.unitopiamusic.com, and at www.myspace.com/unitopiaband. Please visit our website for the track listing.

New Jet Video!!

Posted by Paddy On March - 21 - 2010

Jet, still trying to reclaim the heights they reached with their debut album, have released their brand new video for the song “17″. (Facebook readers will have to click here to watch the video)

It’s always difficult to follow up a monster debut album. Wolfmother are in the same boat. I guess all you can do is what you do best and see how the cards fall. I for one am hoping they fall favorably for Jet (and “da Mudder”). The world needs more real rock n roll.
